Prevent Stress and Disease with Music

Various studies have shown the benefits of music to boost immunity to disease treatment. Recent analysis of more than 400 scientific reports even mention the music may be better than drugs for several diseases.
The study, led by Professor Daniel K. Levitin of McGill University Department of Psychology, analyzed hundreds of studies on the influence of music in the body. Broadly speaking there are two areas that benefit most from the music, the immune system and mental state in reducing stress.
“We found strong evidence that music interventions have an important role to health, ranging from the operating room to the family clinic,” says Levitin.
But more importantly, further Levitin, have found neurochemical mechanisms that influenced the music gives the biggest effect for 4 terms, namely management of mood, stress, immunity, and social ties.
Here are some of the conclusions of the study:
– Listening to music is far better than drugs to reduce stress before surgery.
– People who listen to music have rising levels of immunoglobulin A, an antibody that is available on the mucosal tissue and help prevent infection.
– People who listen to music have a number of immune cells called “natural killer cells” more. The immune cells are useful for fighting bacteria, cell infection, and cancer cells.
– Listening to music can reduce cortisol levels in the body. Cortisol is a stress hormone that has many negative psychological effects and can lead to obesity.
