Fire Safety in Caravans

Apart from buying caravan insurance or insurance for your motorhome there are a number of more practical ways in which you can protect your investment. None of them will be as good as having the correct motorhome or caravan insurance in place if the worst does happen of course, but here are our tips for a safer caravan holiday that will also apply just as much to those of you who own a motorhome.
When you arrive at a site and if possible, site your caravan at least 6 metres away from your neighbour’s. This will help stop the spread of a fire if the worst does happen. If you have fire extinguishers on board (which of course you should have) make sure they are in working order before you leave home and locate any fire fighting equipment on site. If you’re going to be Fireman Sam for the evening albeit in a caravan or motorhome rather than a big red fire engine, it’s worth knowing which direction to run in to find the hose!
Just as you would at home, make sure you have at least one smoke alarm in your caravan and a carbon monoxide one too. When you have fitted them to your vehicle, check that they are working. Fit new batteries to the smoke and carbon dioxide detectors in your caravan at the start of the season. It probably won’t invalidate your insurance if you don’t but it might save your life if you do.
A fire in your kitchen is probably the most likely cause of extensive damage to your caravan or motorhome and you will want to save the hassle of a big insurance claim, so, tempting as it may be to sit outside in the sunshine with a glass of Chablis whilst the steak is grilling, you should never leave your caravan cooker unattended. If you have a chip pan too, invest in a fire blanket and keep the handles of your saucepans turned inward to lessen the chances of spillage. Remember, it’s not only your caravan that can be damaged, you can too and that’s not something that can be put right by a claim on your insurance.
If you’re one of the few people left on the planet who enjoy a smoke in their caravan or motorhome, always ensure that cigarettes and cigars are extinguished correctly and cannot reignite. Don’t use plastic ashtrays and don’t tip the butt into a bin of any description – stick to metal or glass ashtrays. Better still – don’t smoke! Your insurance bills will be lower (that’s your life insurance we mean, not your caravan or motorhome insurance!) and you will feel better for it. That’s what everyone says anyway! Smoking in your bed is very dangerous at home and even more so in your caravan or motorhome. If you happen to fall asleep you could easily set fire to your bedding and it goes without saying that you should keep matches and lighters out of reach of children.
With the weather we have in this country it’s always a good idea to have gear on board your motorhome or caravan that will help you to keep warm. Most of us will rely on a fan heater but remember this can be a fire hazard! Never block or cover your heater with anything (tempting as it may be to dry clothes in the middle of our balmy summer evenings!) and pay attention too to the condition of cables and plugs, as they can easily be damaged by normal use out of the house. With most caravans and motorhomes having only limited sockets it might be tempting to overload them but please don’t! It’s dangerous and it might invalidate your insurance if you do. It’s all common sense really, but to sum up, use your common sense, buy some caravan or motorhome insurance and most of all, have fun!

Does Smoking Affect Lungs – Yes! How to Save Your Lungs From Smoking Damage

Are you a smoker and wondering how does smoking affect lungs? That is a great question to ask. Hopefully it means that you are curious how smoking is damaging your body and, even better yet, you want to know how to prevent further damage to your lungs.

First of all, it is important for you to know that smoking definitely affects your lungs. Smoking is damaging to your whole body but is particularly devastating to your lungs and entire respiratory system.

How does smoking damage your lungs? Ok, well this gets a little technical but bear with me. Cigarette smoke is full of thousands of chemicals. A large percentage of those chemicals are considered to be toxic. As you breathe the toxic smoke into your lungs it damages the small components of your lungs, the cilia and alveoli that help your body absorb oxygen.

The cilia are small hair like branches that line the upper respiratory system and help move mucus out of the lungs. Continuous smoking damages the cilia and toxic mucus cannot move out of the lungs leading to COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) or lung cancer.

The alveoli are small air sacs in the lungs that transport oxygen into the blood. Over time smoking causes the alveoli to become less elastic which decreases the amount of oxygen they can transport leading to shortness of breath.

Alright, the boring technical details are done. Now we have established that smoking definitely damages your lungs. The good news is that you can stop and even reverse the damage that smoking does to your lungs. How?

There is only one way to prevent the damage smoking does to your lungs and that is to quit smoking. Now, quitting smoking does not have to be that hard. Actually it can be very easy if you use the right technique to kick the smoking habit.

What technique am I talking about? It is called NLP, or Neuro Linguistic Programming. You may not have heard of it but NLP is the easiest way to quit smoking because it completely removes the cravings to smoke. Once the cravings are gone kicking the smoking habit is a piece of cake.

How does NLP remove the cravings to smoke? Like hypnotherapy NLP targets the areas of your mind that the cravings to smoke reside. It helps your brain to release the emotional attachment that you have for smoking. But unlike hypnotherapy you do not have to visit a professional. You can quit smoking by listening to an NLP audio recording at your own home. Many people have been able to stop smoking after listening to an NLP recording just once.

Also, if you are concerned about how does smoking affect lungs you will be happy to know that NLP is all natural. When you quit smoking with NLP you do not have to worry about any negative side effects you can experience if you try quitting smoking with medications.

Your Body Reflects Your Mind

When you think of getting into shape, getting healthy or changing your lifestyle, you most likely think of diets, exercise and supplements. What you may not realize is that nothing you do on the outside can ever be long-term without first tackling what is happening on the inside. Until you get your thoughts into shape, create a healthy mind and change how you think about you, you can never create the vision you have of yourself.

Because Of Tattoos, Women Prone Breast Cancer

TAK little lady with the tattoos that adorn his body. However, a recent study revealed that the inflammation caused by tattooing can lead to breast cancer.
Michael R. King, Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University, said breast cancer is associated with inflammation caused by tattooing. Because the cytokines cause inflammation in the blood stream making “road” that leads to the formation of breast cancer.
To find out how breast cancer cells spread through the blood and attaches to the cell, Michael examines women who adorn themselves with tattoos. In fact, inflammation caused by tattooing causes cancer cells spread through the blood vessel lining (endothelium).
Substance that functions as a regulator of the immune system in the body (cytokines) make clots and breast cancer cells trigger to release more cytokines. This is caused due to inflammation of the breast cancer tattoo.
The researchers say, blocking the spread of breast cancer depends on the inflammation that occurs in the outer skin cells because the effect on the endothelium. Therefore in order to avoid breast cancer, women should be aware of tattooing.
Although some people say tattoos can beautify the body, but if it can damage the body why should be done?
